Carrying on with niche marketing and now that you have had the time to watch the video on keyword research, in part 2a of niche marketing, we can move on to more about the competition of your keywords.

Firstly, have you considered what categories you will have in your niche. Look at the categories on this blog to get an idea of how you could breakdown the information you want to talk about on your site.

How many categories will it have?

Finding a list of say 20 good keywords related to your niche is all you need to do right now. When I say keywords, I definitely don’t mean a one word keyword, your keywords must have at least two words in the phrase.

Lets’s consider you are in the garden niche. You would have …

Garden – almost impossible to rank on page 1 of Google for now

Rose garden – that could also be difficult depending on the competition

Garden design ideas – this would be a possible keyword to get to page 1, depending on the work that you put in.

You can build on your list of keywords later on. Of course, that is assuming that you want to build a long term authority type website. The more content you have on your site, the longer people will stay there and the more likely you are to earn money from it.

Remember you are looking for keywords with a good amount of search and not a lot of competition.

In the image below, which was taken from the Google Keyword Tool, note that I selected “Niche Marketing” in phrase match … and what a fantastic keyword that is with 22,000 searches a month and low competition. Actually it was a complete surprise . I hope you find some excellent keywords like that in phrase match, for your niche too.

Niche Marketing - Keyword Competition

When I hit the Competition option, it went from High Competition to Low Competion, just look at the High? It is a great example of what amazing keywords you can find. To be honest, that was just good luck because on the whole, I would be delighted with 700 + keywords in phrase match with low competition.

Your task now is to find the best keyword you can with the lowest competition for your future web business. This part of building your online web business is crucial. It is the foundations to your online success. Believe me, it can be hard but also addictive, trying to find the right keywords. It will probably take you quite a while to find good niche marketing keywords in the various categories that you choose to have on your site.

Niche marketing is the second part in the Web Business Online Marketing Course. If you have not seen the first part of course, either click the link above or read this, Part 2a and then click the link at the bottom.

First question may be:

What do we mean by niche marketing anyway?

Depending on what country you come from, niche marketing may not be a familiar phrase. The definition of nich marketing is a subset of a larger marker. Note the following examples.

Niche – Garden and Subset – Gardening Tools

Golf – Golfing Clubs

Fashion – Mens Fashion

Yoga - Yoga Retreats

For you, you have to find your own niche, taking into account that you will be working on your niche for a long time so therefore it is best that you choose a niche that you enjoy. Believe me, it’s painful having to create content for a niche that you have no interest in. It will be a total waste of time because you will probably get so far and then not bother anymore. (I sound like the voice of experience )

Your niche could be a passion you have, such as a hobby. It could be something to do with your family, such as bringing up children or cooking. If you can’t think of a niche, then look at magazines to see what interests you. You could also go to Amazon and look at all the products to see if there is anything you would like to create a website around. Another place is eBay.

In Part 1 of this course, you created an account at Clickbank. That is another place that you will find interesting topics to write about. Look at the tab for Marketplace, click that and then look at all the categories on the left hand side. Spend some time browsing. I’m sure you will be quite surprised at what people are marketing.

Once you have decided on your niche, the next and most important step of your online marketing success are the keywords that you use for your content. If you get this wrong, you will be putting in a lot of work for nothing.

The first thing you want to do is to log into your Google email account.

Then go to the Google keyword tool and select login there.

http://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal

When I first started working online, I was given a lot of false information and I notice that still some people are passing the wrong information on. Anyway, for you, I found a great video which explains the functions of this tool. There is no way I could have explained it better.

There are three types of phrase to select from.

Broad match … don’t even bother with that. If you conventrated on those metrics, that would be your downfall. However Google does default to broad match, so make sure you turn it to Phrase match, at least.

Phrase match … this is is great for giving you ideas for keywords and much better to use for targetting visitors to your site.

Exact match… is worth while comparing with Phrase and also great for domain names.

In the meanwhile, please watch the following video . Your goal is to find as many keywords related to your niche with as low competition as possible. Your keyword research is about to begin …

Rather than let this post go on, I have decided to spit it into two and to be honest I have an image which I could not get into the post, so we will carry on with Part 2b. In the meantime for Part 1, click Niche Marketing and also just to remind you part 2b will go further into keyword research.

If you are in the process of article writing, the following tips are going to help you do it correctly and also help with the task of article submission.

Let’s face it, many people find article writing quite a painful experience and often put it off rather than knuckle down and get on with it. Sometimes it’s not the thought of actually writing the article, it’s about the ‘how to do it correctly’ and then once this has been achieved, the thought of ‘how to submit it to all the various article submission sites as quickly as possible’ rears its’ ugly head. In fact you could get a headache just thinking about it!

These thoughts have resulted in many a stagnant blog yet if these same blogs could be revitalised, they could be sold! Can you imagine the money you could generate in just a few weeks by giving these old blogs or even new ones some juice and then selling them on?

I’ve got good news for you and that is, FREE article writing information on how you can do article writing the right way!

Read on to learn how Willie Crawford does it … after all, why would you not follow the example of someone who is successful in the internet marketing arena for many years.

- – - – - – - -

My Super-Effective Article Writing Formula Copyright 2009 Willie Crawford

Here’s the formula that I use to quickly write informative articles that get results. For many of the articles that I write my goal is to get visitors to a website where they take some action related to the topic of the article. Often the action that they take is to buy some product that I recommend.

Here is the formula that I use to write articles almost in an assembly line fashion. The reason that I write so many articles is that in some niches you need dozens, even hundreds of articles, to break through the clutter.

I begin with keyword research. You want to know what keyword phrases your ideal customers are using when searching online. They come online searching for solutions to their problems, and when they come across your articles offering a solution, they become raving fans.

To do keyword research, I often use the “Google External Keyword Tool.” You can find it by googling that term. This tool shows you how many searches are made on a given term in a month, plus how many webpages there are out there already targeting that phrase. The tool also suggests related terms that you might want to target. You can use this tool to compile a list of suitable keywords and then download your research results in an Excel spreadsheet.

In looking at keywords, what you’re trying to identify, in addition to search volume, is “What problems are these searchers try to solve.” People come online looking for solutions to their problems. You identify those problems and then let them know (via your articles) that you have the perfect solution.

In crafting my article titles, I use my keywords but also work in a promised benefit. My titles promise to show them the solution to a nagging problem. When they see that title listed in the search engines, this is what entices them toclick through to your target site.

In crafting the body of my articles, I use the “problem, agitate, solution” formula. I describe the problem to letthe reader know that I understand their problems. I then go into excruciating details explaining the problem, and how it’s not going to get any better unless they do something about it. Finally, I point out the obvious solution, which is my recommended product.

Sometimes I only point them to a website to read more about the problem. On that website, they’ll also find my recommended solution. This is a less-threatening, soft-sell approach.

When I do my keyword research, I sometimes identify hundreds of related keywords that are being searched on a lot. At the same time, I identify several different painful problems (or variations of the same problem). This is what allows me to write articles in almost an assembly line fashion.

After the articles are written, I use an automated submission service to submit them to the top article directories. I use automated submissions because otherwise I’d spend countless hours submitting each article (not a very good use of our time).

In the resource box of these articles, I point readers to a target site. Where permitted I use anchor text in the links in these resource boxes. That anchor text is generally the keyword that I’m targeting (the same keyword that I used in my title).

I also post these articles to my blogs or maybe to a static page on one of my sites.

Since I like to leverage my time, I also turn many of my articles into videos, and podcasts. I generally create the videos by putting the main points of the articles on PowerPoint slides. Then I read the article as I go through the slides – recording then using Camtasia (screen capture software).

Alternatively, I sometimes simply turn the text of an article into a PDF. Then I scroll down my computer screen reading the article, and again, recording it using Camtasia.

To create the podcast you can use recording software probably already on your computer, or you can download one many free pieces of software such as Audacity. Simply read the article as you record it. I generally save it as an MP3.

Submit the videos to video sharing sites, and submit the audio to podcast sites. I use an automated submission service for this, submitting to numerous sites!

Here’s one final tactic that I use to get my articles to rank higher for a target keyword and get noticed more readily in the search engines. I look for ways to create external links pointing to my article in one location – generally my main blog. I do this by bookmarking the blog post that contains the article. This is perhaps the easiest way to give the article a search engine boost.

There you have it, my super-effective article writing formula. It generates a steady stream of high quality website traffic for me, and a steady stream of orders too. Feel free to use it.

—————————————–

Willie Crawford has been marketing online for 13 years, and used article marketing most of that time (writing over 1500 articles). His favorite tools for automatically distributing his articles, videos, podcasts, and press releases is the automated submission site: http://EasyPushButtonTraffic.com

Thank’s to Willie Crawford for this article, I’m off now to revamp my article writing and make sure I follow it up with the easy and lazy way of doing article submission.
